The idea of being yoked with Christ and walking with him, I think for me, has, has shifted the way I see waiting. Um, because when I’m walking with him and we’re daily in this relationship, you know, it’s not a situation where I’m just here for that one thing. I think it changes the way, the way that we wait

Tagline: Created on purpose. And for purpose,

Everybody, welcome back to the Daron Earlewine podcast. We’re in the frequently asked questions series this summer, and I love this; getting a chance to hear from you, the podcast listener, what you’re thinking about. What are you praying about? What are you wrestling with? I say it all the time on the podcast. Uh, I love doing this. Uh, I love recording the content, sending it out all over the world. Uh, the difficult part is, uh, it’s not a conversation, at least not real-time. So, uh, we talk about things and, and try to instruct you and, and grow together. Uh, but we don’t get immediate feedback, uh, from you. We do often when you guys reach out, text us or, uh, DMs or send us an email, which is wonderful. Uh, but I love this series, uh, reaching out to you guys saying, Hey, what questions would you like us to answer in getting a chance to answer them?

So we’re gonna jump right into this next question that came in, uh, for this summer series. And here’s the next question, says this, what scriptures do you point to and clinging to in times of waiting? Okay, great question. Great question. And I, I think the, the, the reason I I love this question is in this, uh, relationship of faith, um, waiting is a huge part of the game. Uh, times we’re where we’re, we’re hoping for things, where we’re waiting on things where we’re, uh, we’re hoping that that, that something, a prayer will be answered, an opportunity will come, a life situation will change. Uh, we find often that we’re waiting. And I think my perspective on, um, waiting has changed. Uh, the longer that I’ve followed Jesus, and, and, um, the more I’ve learned to trust him, I think when I was probably, um, I dunno, maybe in my twenties, probably is, and this thought’s just kind of popping into my head right now, and it’s better than what I had written down.

So I, I like it. Maybe when the Holy Spirit gives me an immediate download that’s better than what I thought is, here’s what I think I used to think, or how, how I viewed it as I’m here walking through my life, okay, with these immediate issues, questions, um, needs and God somewhere up, uh, you know, on the dark side of the moon or creating another universe, or is doing big stuff. And it’s kind of like, um, I’m sending in my prayer request and to like prayer email box and, you know, I’m probably, you know, prayer request 7,625,302 for the day. And God’s up there checking his prayer email and he’s like, man, I’ve gotta really crank through these emails. And it takes him a really long time to get to email 7 million for me. And then to figure out, okay, do I think that’s, you know, my will for Daron’s life, whatever, and you know, I’m gonna take a couple days and think about it, and then I’ll get back to Daron.

Oh yeah, I’ve gotta take care of those stars in the sixth Galaxy. Like whatever, okay, is that God was some way far off and I just kind of threw up these things to him and then just waited around to hopefully get a response as I’m walking alone in the things that I’m wrestling through. Um, now if you had to ask me as a 20-something, is that the way I see life? I just, I said no, I just, I’m, I’m trying to figure this thing out and, and, and, you know, praying and asking God to, to, to, to, to act. But here’s how I think my life is in perspective has changed is I say it every week here on the podcast, right, that God is near you not far away. And I think as that, that’s become true for me, not just as a, as a something I say, but something I, I really believe is I don’t think I, I view waiting the same way that, like I said, that I’m throwing this up somewhere in the, in the, you know, universe.

Um, the idea of being yoked with Christ and walking with him, I think for me has, has shifted the way I see waiting. Um, because when I’m walking with him and we’re daily in this relationship, um, now, yeah, I may be still, there may be time that I’m waiting for a, um, the, the final, uh, answer to happen. And I know this is different. Like if you are, um, waiting for, you know, you’re asking God to bring healing to someone, there is a, an immediate deal there, right? Where the, like, I wanted to see this cancer gone or whatever, or, um, but I think so often is, is when we begin to, to walk with God. And it’s not like, um, you know, it’s not a situation where I’m just here for that one thing. Um, I think it changes the way, the way that we wait when we’re walking with him in the waiting, you know?

Yeah. I, I’m praying about that last thing that I wanna see happen. But today you’re teaching me something new today I’m learning to trust you for what is happening today. And so it’s not like the, the email prayers sent and I just sit around, you know, twiddling my thumbs until that breakthrough thing happens. It’s, God, this is something that’s on my heart and I want you to, your, your will to be done. I want you to work in this. And then we walk today and we learn what, what, what you’re teaching me today. And so I’m not just sitting around waiting, if that makes sense. And I think a lot of that, you know, the question comes back to what are some, uh, uh, what do you point to? What scriptures do I point to, do I cling to in times of waiting? And what was interesting about this, when I first got the question, I thought, um, my, my heart was like, for me it’s more than, than these certain scriptures that I hold to.

Cause I think sometimes, um, we can take scriptures and I think it’s great to memorize scripture. I think we, that that’s something that should definitely be a part of our life. But we can take one and we can, you know, in some ways just, you know, in ERO way continue to, to cling to that. And that one scripture come back to it again and again. And I don’t know necessarily that that’s bad, but for me, what I wanna encourage you is if you’re in a season of waiting, um, I wanna encourage you to clinging more to who God is than just one scripture that you might have on a bumper sticker somewhere, right? Because your relationship isn’t with the verse, your relationship is with the person of Jesus. And so I’m gonna give you some scriptures that I think are amazing that you can cling to and that you can read, uh, that you can memorize, that I, I know that God can speak to you through, but I wanna also encourage you that if you’re walking through a time of waiting is don’t just choose one scripture to clinging to, and then send your prayer email up and wait for it to be answered is embrace the understand that God is near me, I’m walking with him, and I’m, I’m clinging to his word, but not just the written word.

I’m also clinging to the living word, right? Which is Jesus as we walk through this. So I wanna give you, I I’m gonna give you guys some scripture here to cling to, uh, and and I think you’re gonna be surprised by, by some of the stuff that we see in these passages. And, uh, we’re gonna do that right after a quick commercial break. We’ll be right back. Is it time for you to take your next step towards discovering your purpose, but you’re not sure what to do? Maybe jumping into the entire Spiritual DNA course seems just like a little too much for you right now. No problem at all. That’s why I want you to know about the five Day Jumpstart to purpose. It’s totally free and it’s a five-day audio course you’re gonna listen to just, it’s really short, like, I dunno, five, six minutes a day.

But it’s gonna help you just, let’s call it an appetizer, right? To help you jumpstart this process towards purpose. It’s free. All you gotta do do is go to daronearlewine.com/jumpstart. It looks like this right behind me on the screen. You’re gonna go there and, uh, we’re gonna send you the course for free and I’ll help you take your next step, uh, cuz hey, we say it every week. I don’t want you to forget about it, right? God’s created you on purpose and for purpose. Let’s jumpstart that purpose. Now, let’s get back to the podcast. All right, we’re back. And here’s one thing that kind of blew me away, uh, building on what I just said there in the first part of the podcast was, um, I just started Google searching right scriptures about waiting. And honestly, I was blown away. I was blown away by the amount of scriptures that talk about waiting on the Lord.

And the majority of them are from the Old Testament. And I think this is key. Uh, I love the New Testament, and I remember as a kid thinking that the Old Testament, right? It’s just like old stories about people, and there’s some stuff in there, and it’s more of a history deal. And, uh, what I’ve come to realize more and more in my life is that the, the Old Testament, this isn’t the old stuff that was like, you know, just there for a history lesson, but like, it, it comes down to the reality that there’s so much in the Old Testament that shows us how people learn to trust and walk with God through thousands of years of waiting. And I was just so encouraged by so many of these. And, uh, the first one I want you to see is actually, it is actually a, a, a new testament, uh, passage that kind of, uh, brings a a point back to what I said in the first part of the podcast.

It’s Hebrews 13:8. This is, this Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. And I hope that’s something that you can build as a foundational saying that listen, God’s not changing. So if I’m walking through a situation where I’m waiting and I’m wondering, oh, did he change? Is he against me now? Is he not for me? Is there something where God’s mad at me? Like, is there something new about God here that no, he’s to say yesterday, today and forever, and you can trust him in this season as you’re walking with him to see him bring about what you’re actually com you know, in a conversation in him to see. And I think the good thing about this is there’s times right where you may be waiting on the specific answer you want, and that’s not the way that God is planning on answering this prayer.

And so it’s a point to to, to realize as you walk with him and know I can trust you. You’re the, you’re the, you know, um, you know, the same yesterday and today and forever, that I’m able to be at a place where the answer that, that you’re gonna bring eventually may be different than what, um, that I’m, that, that, that I want. But as I walk with you and wait with you, I know I can trust who you are in it. Okay? Here’s some other ones I think are great is, um, in Psalm, and, and there’s a lot of really cool ones in, in the Psalms and David and others that were, uh, obviously, you know, very real intimately connected with God. Uh, here’s Psalm 27, 14 says this, wait for the Lord, be strong and let your heart take courage. Wait for the Lord, the confidence you see that David has, that he can trust in what God is doing.

He’s not shaken, right? He’s, he’s encouraged to be strong, to not let fear come in and, and make us believe something that’s not true about the character of Him to weight on, to be strong in the waiting. Here’s Isaiah 40 31, but they who weight on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up on wings like eagles. They shall run and not be wary. They shall walk and not be faint. I love about this passage is it doesn’t say, but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength as they sit around and do nothing and just wait for God to show up, right? It’s not a, I’m just gonna sit here in the dust of my sadness and what I want and, and just wait for God to do something is I’m gonna wait and, and God’s gonna renew my strength as I, as I do, but I’m gonna mount up when wings like eagles.

I’m gonna run and not be wary. I’m gonna walk and not be faint. I’m going to continue to move forward in life, trusting that God is the same yesterday and today and forever, and that I can trust in him and wait on him in his time away He needs to do. But I’m not just sitting around waiting for the answer that I’m, that, that I want or that the only way that I wanna see it done. Uh, I love that part of it. Okay? Here’s some other ones. Limitations. 3 25. The Lord is good to those who wait for him to the soul who seeks him. Now, what what this passage sticks out to me is some of the Old Testament stories, uh, Abraham I can think of. And, uh, you know, where, where, and, uh, there’s a few other stories, but the Abraham specifically, right?

Where God said, Hey, here’s what I’m gonna do, and they distrusted God and they said, well, you know, I know we’re gonna have a son, but we’re not really gonna wait for God in that. I think, uh, maybe I could have a a a a kid with, with my maidservant, right? And, and that whole situation is a whole other historical, uh, huge deal. Um, there are multiple things that happen as we look through, uh, the Old Testament where it’s talking about here. Like, it’s good for those who wait, the soho seeks him. It’s good because when we wait upon him, we allow him to do what only he can do. And that’s something I wanna encourage. And if you’re, if you’re hearing, you’re looking for that scripture and you, and you feel yourself angsty in trying to, to manufacture the result or the outcome that you want, um, that’s not exactly waiting, right?

That’s doing your best to manipulate the outcome the way that you want it to be. Dispatch is saying, listen, it’s good for those who wait on him, right? Because you get his best, not whatever you can actually manufacture. The other piece of it is this is to the soul who seeks him. And that I’m seeking connection and relationship with him, not just the outcome that I think is best for me. Kind of goes back to our, the last, uh, you know, uh, episode we did about money is it comes back to the, is is the relationship of being loved and loved God, the foundation from which I’m talking about wealth, thinking about waiting, whatever it may be. Does it start there? Okay, there’s a ton more. I’m gonna give you some of this, the, the addresses so you can look them up as well. Isaiah 30:18 is great.

Psalm 1…, uh, Psalm 130 verses five through six. So good, that one’s so good. I wait for the Lord, my soul waits and in his word, I hope, right? That’s both the written word of God, right? These scriptures and also the living word of God through the relationship I have with Jesus. There’s another one, Psalm 33:20 through 22. Exodus 14: 14 is great. Psalm 37:34, Psalm 62:5. Uh, their discs keep coming and going. Psalm 37:7. So many powerful, powerful scriptures that encourage us in this. Okay? So hope that’s a decent overview. Hope it answers your questions. If you have more, send them my way. Once again, you can always text me, uh, 317-550-5070.
